SRDTC during the 18 years of its intervention has been playing the role of facilitator for the development of the society- making aware and organizing people into village federation, strengthening it for effective functioning for the improvement of socio-economic disparity among the people. It is the people who are feeling happiness about some positive changes in their daily lives. |
In Jalpaiguri, through the process, women folk are organized in to 21 Self-Help Groups and they are enhancing their awareness level and proceeding towards self-reliance. 70 women members of the groups have been supported for piggery and vegetable cultivation, who have been able to earn for family survival. People particularly women and children are being benefited through 5 Health Clinic established in the central places of referral villages, where education on health and preventive health care generated. |
In Pathar Pratima 265 groups (women) have been formed. All of them have good amount of savings in the bank and involved in income generating activities-cultivation, poultry, goatery, small business, piggery etc. |
60 families benefited through the pond re-excavation programme organized by SRDTC. It has remarkable impact that beneficiaries are able to use the land (up and low) and ponds for various purposes - boro cultivation, pisciculture, nursery and gardening, plantation, duckery etc. Every beneficiary is earning about to Rs. 10,000/- per year at least. |
112 families have been benefited from the programme of low cost housing and sanitation programme. |

Sundarban Mahila Samriddhi Prakalpa, an autonomous body is formed functioning as a bank and women are taking benefit for income generating activities. Total 65 women groups consist of 780 families are associated with this bank.

In Coochbehar and Pathar Pratima, there has been residential training centers established where multifarious need based training, meeting etc. are organised by SRDTC and also other developmental actors. A nursery school is running in Pathar Pratima project area where the local students are learning in a facile manner. |
Similarly in Majhgaon, people have formed people’s organization. 21 self help groups formed and linked with NABARD, Chaibasa Sadar. They are doing their activities with articulated plan and with this process they are proceeding towards their goal to achieve, both men and women are becoming aware about the present contextual realities and critical issues. Women become the earning members of the family, getting recognition, actually they have realized that they have right to self-determination and accordingly they are doing it with concerted effort. Tribal people are also aware about to protect their environment and forest protection committee formed by them. They are also becoming concern about prevention of health and organizing Malaria, TB camp organized in the villages in collaboration with health department and SRDTC. There are instances related to restoration of their local culture like song, dance, games and sports, festivals etc. practiced by them. |
In Chaibasa Sadar and Khuntpani block people’s organization is formed. 35 Self-Help Groups formed. Social animator (50) and group leaders are becoming acquainted with this process to play the leading role in their village development.It has also been able to promote network of 25 grassroots NGOs in West Bengal and Jharkhand. Relationship with banks, agriculture, health sectors of government, BDOs, DC offices and other development sectors has been intensified so far. | | |
SRDTC has been able to promote Networking of People’s Organisation, which are more sustainable in nature in all the project areas. These organizations are smoothly working in their area of concerns. They are organizing their own resource for better livelihood, raising voice against injustices and for restoration of their rights. |
Organization has been able to promote a group of capable human resource that is professionally engaged in carrying out the organizational responsibilities towards the society. SRDTC has established itself as a more human value based organisation, which are very sensitive to the causes of the people. In addition to that the organizational system with regard to financial management, personnel management, reporting and documentation has been substantially developed. |
