SRDTC during the 22 years of its intervention has
been playing the role of facilitator for the development of the society-
making aware and organizing people into village federation,
strengthening it for effective functioning for improvement of
socio-economic disparity in the society. It is the people who are
feeling happiness about some positive changes in their daily lives. ·
People's
organization formed in the working area of North Bengal, South Bengal
and Jharkhand, who are functioning by their own and more sustainable in
nature. The members of people's organization are also becoming aware
about preventive health measures, education, nutrition as well as
environment protection, which is reflected in their daily life through
usage of latrine, drinking boiled water during water borne diseases,
consult doctors, immunizing children, plantation both in homeland and
waste land, cleaning water bodies and surrounding of residence etc. | |

They are also able to inspiring others to set up sanitary system and practice regularly. Parents are also becoming interested to educate their children even girl children. They are also involving themselves in the social changes raising their voices against gender inequality and discrimination - dowry, lack of understanding between couples, domestic violence, tortures due to social prejudices and like this. They are participating in the social occasion in terms of family arbitration, planning meeting for festivals, development aspects, gram sabha meeting and taking decision. |

· Total 900 Self Help Groups formed with both male and female are with their own savings and income generation on opted trades for sustainable livelihood. Total 1000 social leaders both men and women are having knowledge and experience of development context and issues and also about their rights and privileges who are leading the people towards participating their own and development. ·
In
the working area of South Bengal 120 families benefited through pond
excavation programme helping them to improve their economic status by
agricultural and allied activities. Everybody earns near about Rs.
10,000/- to 12,000/- per year. ·

families benefited from low cost housing programme and 212 families
benefited from low cost sanitation programmes at Pathar Pratima area. 20
tube-well installed at West Bengal and Jharkhand.

Medical Unit set up at a village of Pathar Pratima area. · SRDTC has promoted network with 30 grassroots organizations of West Bengal and Jharkhand. There are about 300 SHGs formed in their working area leading to build functional People's Organization and proceeding towards Local Market Development (LMD) for local producers/ SHG members/ survival poor. | ![]() |

adolescent girl children have completed the vocational training
successfully on tailoring and wool knitting at North Bengal Project area
and South Bengal Project area. Some of them have been able to commence
their business. Again 200 adolescent girl children have undergone with life
skills education and vocational training on book binding, nylon bag making,
candle stick and incense stick making etc and marketing for sustainable livelihood.

About 3000 women got reproductive health services and 2280 children got immunized during the last years under RCH-II Programme.

Organizational
system with regard to financial management, personnel management,
reporting and documentation has been substantially developed. · It has established itself, as a more human value based and credible organization is very sensitive to the cause of the people and has been able to build its constituency in the working area. |

The
training centre of South Bengal Project has been utilized by the South
24 Parganas, Zilla Parishad, Government of West Bengal for imparting
training to the teachers of Sishu Siksha Kendra of different block
areas. |

· In Coochbehar and Pathar Pratima, there has been residential training centers established where multifarious need based training, meeting etc. are organised by SRDTC and also other developmental actors. | |

· A nursery school is running in Pathar Pratima project area where the local students are learning in a facile manner since 2001. · The national environment awareness campaign on different sub themes - Sustainable development, Water- Elixir of life, Solid waste management, Biodiversity conservation have resulted community awareness and keeping their environment neat and clean along with action programme taken in terms of comprehensive plantation, water bodies cleaning, sustainable development, conservation of rare seeds and plant, preparation of bio-fertilizers and usage etc. · Different campaigning and meeting on restriction of uses of plastic carry bags held with the local market committees and secondary schools at Pathar Pratima in collaboration with West Bengal Pollution Control Board. · One core group comprises of local administration, police, lawyers, BMOH, ICDS workers, ANM, CBO representatives, SHG leaders, women leaders, peer group leaders, paralegal and paramedical volunteer and teachers sensitized and functioning for prevention of particularly girl children and women from trafficking and HIV. · For this, twenty peer educators group formed and trained up with primary knowledge on HIV and AIDS, trafficking laws and case management. Community awareness enhanced and resulting reduced unsafe migration and trafficking. HIV Workplace policy formulated and going to be approved by the governing body of SRDTC as internal mainstreaming. Three adolescent groups formed (one boys group and two girls group) and undergoing life skill education, gender, sex, sexuality, masculinity etc. and community particularly migrant people and mobile population are focused with awareness and demonstration on HIV and AIDS in terms of external mainstreaming. The related IEC materials- training module, uses of condom, other materials for information and education are being field tested and finalized. · Near about 100 of trafficking cases prevented on the way to trafficking during last two years and followed up. Two trafficked girl children rescued from Mumbai and rehabilitated. For another two trafficked girl children, family identified, communicated after a last few years of missing. One is settled in Goa now and other is in Shelter Home. | |
